Longiano, in the province of Forlì-Cesena, is located 179 meters above sea level, near the state road 9 via Emilia. From the A14 Bologna-Ancona motorway, take the Cesena exit or the new "Valle del Rubicone" exit in Gatteo, the two are respectively approximately 14 and 10 km from the Longiano area. By train, the closest stations are those of Cesena, Gambettola and Savignano sul Rubicone. Longiano, which today has about 7000 inhabitants, has experienced a notable economic development, in the safeguarding of the territory and the quality of life, so much so that in 1992 it was awarded the recognition of ideal village by the European community and by the magazine Airone. WHAT TO VISIT
The historic center of Longiano, a well-preserved medieval village, offers numerous historical and artistic testimonies, all to be discovered and rediscovered. First of all, a visit to the Malatesta Castle is a must, and to the treasures of the Balestra Foundation that are kept there: a very original collection of works by the greatest Italian artists of the twentieth century, such as Guttuso, Maccari, Morandi, De Pisis, Vespignani ... The visit continues along four other highly original museums, which demonstrate the city's attention to culture and art: the Cast Iron Museum, the Museum of Sacred Art, the Territory Museum and the Mask Gallery. The Petrella Theater is a nineteenth-century jewel, a typical example of an Italian-style theater, finely decorated and characterized by extraordinary acoustics and still very lively artistic activity. The Historical Library holds numerous ancient volumes of scholars and scholars. You can also visit interesting historic churches with seventeenth and eighteenth century masterpieces. The Rifugio Bellico crosses the historic center and bears witness to a dramatic period for Longiano and Romagna: the bombings of the Second World War.
